![Necessary uncomfortable truths are essential to face in order to grow and evolve in life.](https://youtomic.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/a_woman_facing_the_hard_reality_to_learn_and_gro.jpg)
Although people pursue different paths in life, we all want some kind of success to some degree. Some aspire higher than others, others follow a common path whereas a few decide for a less travelled road. Whichever way we take on, it is worth to know in advance, there will be some aspects to become aware of before we even begin.
A famous quote reads “nothing worth achieving is easy”. But even just living in these competitive times force us to face some “uncomfortable situations” that we better become aware of in advance. We need to understand that along the way there will be difficult moments, tough times, obstacles, negative emotions, sometimes feeling fear, that they make us think of “giving up”.
Nevertheless, you must learn that those moments are there to make you mentally stronger and believe in yourself even more. The good news is that “becoming aware of these necessary uncomfortable truths” can save a lot of pain, frustration, sadness or other negative emotions that those setbacks may produce.
Constant Work
We are living times that are shaped by the rapid expansion of technology affecting almost every field you can think of. Such is the velocity of this expansion that we are witnessing changes in the workplace almost every day. Some of these changes bring remarkable improvements for society and on the other hand, it also raises uncertainty and changes in the professional sector all the time. This scenario almost forces us “to be in constant learning mode” in order to be competitive.
All of this makes more sense when we think of starting a project, working on your dreams or take your company to whole new levels. The bigger we want to jump, the more we have to work. This rule also applies should we like to begin a new hobby or improve our existing skills. Constantly dealing with “the unknown” will make us grow both at personal and professional life.
Let yourself be vulnerable
Everybody has doubts and fear, even the strongest personalities. Even though we are taught at young age to hide our true feelings, it is absolutely essential to let yourself be vulnerable, feel your emotions and manage them accordingly. It is important to understand that “vulnerability” is a strength not a weakness.
By being vulnerable, we allow ourselves to be open to the unfamiliar, take measurable risks and accept ourselves exactly as we are. We are not faking any other emotion than what we are feeling inside, we are being authentic, we are being humans. As such, humans make mistakes and have true feelings. Showing yourself this way, especially when you are fearful, makes you unique and connect to people more easily. Contrary to popular belief, by being vulnerable you are being courageous and humble.
Setbacks and failure are part of the journey.
Setbacks, failure, mistake, have all negative connotations. Everybody has faced setbacks, failures or lost at different times in life. Every human being on planet earth has been on those difficult moment, even the greatest. However, it is precisely in those moments when we learn and grow the most as these events serve us to make us better and stronger. Knowing this truth will allow ourselves to see failure as something rather “positive”.
Nothing is forever, nor the good neither the bad.
When we think that we have everything under our control, the world comes to change again. We said it earlier, the world and technology is in constant evolution and thus, changing all the time. Whenever these changes come along, we think that our plans may be affected too. Either we like it or not, our relationships, work and even our routines will at some point be uncertain.
We should embrace this modern reality of constant change as it will be part of our existence. Whenever these unsettling times come along, we are forced to adapt to the new reality and find new ways to prosper. By doing so, we are constantly growing and becoming stronger.
Of course, changes can cause pain and live in difficult circumstances for some time but by looking at the other side of the coin, we can see that these changes may come with “hidden treasures. We only need to learn to see it that way.
What uncomfortable truth do I need to acknowledge and face at the moment?
How can I use the discomfort of facing such truths to evolve in life?
In facing which of these uncomfortable truths do I need more help?
May you find strength and courage when dealing with these uncomfortable but necessary truths.
